Fifty shades of green: moss, laurel and lichen covered stream banks, Mad River ravine, Peterson Memorial Park, Wolcott, Connecticut. July 7, 2020, 6:10 PM.

A small stream cascades over dark gray rocks. Its banks are also covered with large boulders and rock formations, many covered with several different varieties of moss and speckled with several shades of greenish gray lichen. Small thickets of laurel shrubs add leafy greenery to the landscape. he trunks of hemlock trees rise from the few patches of soil between the rocks.

Clouds fill the valley between two mountains. On my side of the valley, there's a little scenic overlook with two people on it, dwarfed by the scene. I had already hiked a few miles by this time. The trail became rockier, steeper, and more technical as I gained altitude. Eventually, even mountain bikers had to walk. Here I was almost at Hazard Peak.

Beneath a partly cloudy sky the sun is setting behind the leafless trees of a winter hardwood forest. A couple inches of fresh wet snow covers the ground and most of the tree branches, sticking to parts of the trunks. A thick underbrush of leafless shrubs is also coated with snow. A small stream with snow-coated rocks runs through the middle of the forest, emptying into a large snow-covered mostly frozen lake beyond the trees. The snow is tinted gold where touched by the rays of the setting sun.

For a few moments last evening a portal through the clouds opened up and revealed the beautiful blue sky above. It has been raining for a few days, and grateful as we are, it was a precious reminder on how transient all things are.

One more house with a tint of European style. And again it's just a federation test. I decided to carefully upgrade my lxc container and Pixelfed server step by step. Now I'm on v0.12.10, and if it will work, I'll continue upgrade process. If not, alas, I'll archive this instance and try something new.

Ich stand dort mit meiner Kamera und wartete auf den richtigen Augenblick. Dann kam die Dampflok 64 491 mit ihrem historischen Zug zwischen Muggendorf und Ebermannstadt angefahren – unterhalb der Burgruine Neideck.

Dampf, das Geräusch der Lok und diese wunderschöne Landschaft der Fränkischen Schweiz – genau solche Momente sind es, warum ich fotografiere. 📸

Ein Stück Eisenbahngeschichte, festgehalten in einem Bild. ❤️

A close in look at the point where lake on the right meets the shore on the left. There are five gray rocks of irregular shape, three along the shore and two partially submerged just offshore. Several branches of a green leafy shrub are visible to the left along the shore. Small, rippling waves are reflecting the gold of an unseen sunset, creating interesting patterns on the lake surface.
