The image depicts a black and white photograph that appears to be from the early 1900s, judging by the clothing styles. Two men stand in what looks like an outdoor rural setting near a chicken coop or pen. One man is dressed formally with glasses and wearing dark trousers over shoes tied at the ankles; he holds a small crate containing chickens. The other man wears a wide-brimmed hat, light-colored long-sleeve shirt, rolled-up sleeves to his elbows, beige pants tucked into tall boots, holding what seems like a container or box of leaves or similar material.

Behind them is an enclosure made from chicken wire fencing supported by wooden stakes and poles; the ground looks dry with scattered debris. There are numerous chickens within this enclosure: some standing near water on one side while others cluster in various groups inside the pen. The environment suggests agricultural activity, likely poultry farming. Both men seem engaged in a conversation or transaction involving the chickens
