12 years later libdb5.3 is still unremovable due to a critical dependency (util-linux -> libpam-modules) and a number of other essential system tools.
One of the other highly used packages keeping this dependency around is iproute2. The only thing in there that uses bdb is arpd. Is anyone actually still using arpd? Could this be spun out into its own package, or dropped entirely?
