Dance of the Sea Breeze
Who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks? I’m learning to appreciate our cool weather. Grateful, even.
For the first time, the prospect of autumn doesn’t make me feel like I’m missing out on something better. I don’t mind the cold anymore, bring it on!
The kids’ school starts in August and the seemlingly endless summer days of freedom will give way to routine, order, discipline, but also to hobbies, friends, and the end of “Mum, I’m bored!”
Though the seasons change, some things remain constant, like the sea breeze. Reassuringly, it’s always there. Sometimes faint, barely a whisper, and at other times strong and feisty.
I like watching the breeze bend tall grasses, inviting them to dance. Chasing butterflies, just out of reach. Offering seagulls a wild ride. The seagulls laugh.
Carefully arranged, vibrant patches of field come to life right amongst our urban apartment buildings.
I turn my gaze to these natural elements, selectively blocking out the concrete.
It’s still green here. And after rain, little birds sing.
