Birthday Part 02
After some recording around the few vessels present on Oostende’s east side, I took the Overzetboot back to the city center, where I had plans to meet friends from Brussels who’d rented a house for 3-4 days for a little celebration including BBQ, beers and laughs.
When I arrived, some of their friends were already there, and I ended up chatting with a girl nice enough, but standing a bit too close for comfort. I politely asked her to keep a decent distance, since my heart belongs to someone else and I wasn’t interested in any physical proximity.
She didn’t quite take me seriously, treating it more like a joke, so at some point I picked her up and tossed her into the swimming pool.
She was upset as hell, but laughing at the same time, calling me crazy. Every guy there was cracking up, and the girls were like “ooooh, Dimi’s like that? Seriously?”
Around 10 PM, the guests left for another party, so I said goodbye to my friends, a couple, as I also had a party of my own to get to around midnight.
That left me some time to walk along the beach and watch the sun disappear over the horizon. In the distance, I heard and spotted a percussionist/singer, so I walked over and asked him and his group of friends if I could record, just for fun. I was welcomed in, ended up chatting with everyone, had some vodka, and spent about an hour with them. Really cool guys.
Not far from my Airbnb, I stopped to drop off my backpack and gear, so I could go into the second party light and free.
As for the party itself, there’s not much to say beyond drinks, dancing, and conversation. I’ll keep this part brief since it’s a bit more private. But I had a great time, and got back to my Airbnb around 5:30/6 AM, sun already up. I was completely wiped, made some coffee, smoked a few cigarettes, and crashed for a few hours of sleep.
