@TimKStanton@mstdn.social May sound nerdy, but the Boston Public Library is super cool. If you really want to nerd out, they used to provide tours of it...construction history was amazing.

Back from my two-day trip in the North End of Boston. This was the best of "urban hiking"-- wearing our trail shoes, we walked the entire perimeter and criss-crossed the interior, covering practically every street (and some alleys!). Stopped at many beautiful sights, some multiple times. Enjoyed conversations with some of the locals as well.

Photo of church steeple as viewed looking up from ground. The base is red brick and the top is intricate white woodwork. The top of the pointed steeple has a brass weathervane that is reflecting the bright sun. Solid blue sky overhead.

This is the famous "Old North Church". This is the church where lanterns were claimed to have been hung in the steeple (under the direction of Paul Revere) to signal the arrival of British troops in 1775--- "one if by land, two if by sea". Here, "sea" was the nearby Charles River. This image is the front of the church--- its backside can be seen in the background in the previous post in this thread.
