I used to live in Viewforth, a long time ago. Mid 1980s. In Polwarth Gardens, no.17 IIRC.
Top floor flat. Absolute dump. I mean, Young Ones standard. Could have been gorgeous, with some investment. Beautiful big tenement flat, bay windows, high ceilings.
No heating. Newspaper for bog roll.
Landlord was a guy called, most appropriately, David Shade.
We called him Shady.
