@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange I miss when jobs were done by people

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange classic, HR was left in charge of third party AI, (in charge of paying a monthly fee to a third party)
"Of course it should work"
"should"
"...should..."

The owners of America have decided that 40% of the potential workforce is "surplus to requirement."
Welcome to the Age of Permanently High Unemployment.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange And now with "AI" filtering, it obscures the actual reasons for rejection inside a black box that requires a Master's degree in Machine Learning to even begin to unravel.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange @Pkbwood@mastodon.online hell. Because I used to work in tech, I coach some people who are desperately job hunting.

This just makes me want to cry.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange But "no one wants to work."

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange plot twist: once he pointed it out, he got retrospectively fired :D

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange the xss in the website of a company I applied for and just told them via the same channel as my application was not fixed for weeks so I stopped bothering to dig deeper. "1 man band" hobby projects fixed theirs within hours after my mail...

Based on my recent experience the best chance is to just bypass HR and official (fake) job offers: know someone who knows someone who can push HR from inside that company.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange …this is why you don't use HR people to hire technical people unless they have some basic concept of what the things they're hiring for, are.

Clearly this HR mob think a serial port is where sailors go for breakfast.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange I've been job searching for over a year. I have so many different resume versions. 1 pager, 4 pager, Ai assisted. I have over 20yrs of experience. It's been a nightmare just trying to get seen by the right people.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange shit like this needs to be outlawed with severe penaltoes starting at 10 year salary of that opsition to be paid to the rejected candidate + 1 year of jailtime wothout parole for each rejected candidate…

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange If I specify "Don't use or code with AI" in a cover letter, that's gonna screen me out of almost everything even if a job doesn't mention AI. That's OK. Better that than getting to a phone screen, being asked the question and replying "I don't. Same with dryclean only stuff. It's against my religion."

The awkward pause and "Well. I think that's all I have for you. We'll let you know." would almost be worth wearing this t-shirt to an interview.

t-shirt saying "Stop forcing AI into fucking everything"

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange Reminds me of that place where a boss tried applying to positions in the company, found everything was being auto-rejected, and fired the entire HR department for not doing their job.

@Nonya_Bidniss@infosec.exchange this was also previously the case, which is why I developed resume SEO somewhere in the late naughties, basically I would mention every single correctly spelled variation of the term. As these resumes were loaded into a recruiters DB, or Linkedin, and the recruiters might not know the keywords they would need to search for, with the exception of the keywords added to the resume

So a mention of Java would include J2EE, etc. Mentions of databases, would have reverence to other databases they were compatible with, LDAP would be Sun Java One, Directory Server, etc
