time has ended,
eternity has begun —
bird flying backwards

The red room hides
Two centuries lost

Inland Empire —
a gray winter day
in an old hotel

A timeless fog
like a steely knife
hangs in the air

pink champagne on ice
no reason to leave

Highway of the lost
Roosting in reverse
Vultures walk with me

Buddha pays no mind
to the bittersweet

Slowly climbing
The path to enlightenment

Ivy League daydreams
reverberate in corridors
of gleaming marble

On onyx streets
Walk Gods of dreams
In far Shangri-la

visions of conquest —
the ruins of Tenochtitlan

Age-old wisdom
Pays no heed to time
End of climbing
