Inside the Parramatta Female Factory. A former forced labour facility for convicts, asylum, and foster care home/children's prison where half the residents were Aboriginal. It's as eerie as it looks.

A large entry hall two storeys tall. On the left is a sandstone wall with three windows and a door. On the right in the distance is a cream wall, with the bottom part painted maroon, with a door to the next room. The door looks tiny, but it's actually just a regular door. Inside the main corridor, which has the same cream and maroon colour scheme as the previous room. On the right is a row of heavy green steel doors. On the left is a row of rooms with no doors. One of the cells. It's very dark, with sandstone on the rear and right wall, and a cream and maroon wall on the left. Two small windows, one above the other, let in some natural light. It's astounding that children as young as 10 used to live here. Another large two-storey-tall room, this time with sandstone walls and a fireplace. Despite two rows of windows, and the fact it's broad daylight with a blue sky outside, it's very dark. A closer look at the green steel doors.

The prestigious Catholic private girls school Our Lady of Mercy opened up some of its historic buildings to the public during Parramatta Open, including the Brigid Shelly Building.

The front entry to Our Lady of Mercy. It's a century-old three-storey brick building with brick arches in front of its balconies. View of the building from the street. There's a path on the right and a lawn with a hedge on the left. Inside the building. There's dark red carpets, and two-tone cream walls separated by a green railing. The ceiling features intricate plaster cornices and five-light chandeliers. A display near the front office with a collection of photographs of the school in picture frames, a dark dress on a mannequin, and a display case with various records. A collection of past uniforms. They range from beige dresses, to brown tartan tunics, to a light blue school dress, and finally a dark blue dress.
