I was testing a blackberry, along came a spider and jumped out beside me

A few blackberries, mostly ripe, peek out from behind their serrate leaves. The leaves are still green, but are fading to autumnal yellows. The blackberries look good, with light reflecting off their glossy druplet A common garden spider, with her pretty brown and tan decorative abdomen, and fierce hairy legs, lurks in her web. She has just leaped out from behind some leaves, alerted by my berry picking. Alas, I am too large to be useful prey.
