💬 What keeps the #FreeSoftware community alive?

The people who dedicate their time, energy and passion to it.

The @fsfe@mastodon.social Italian Community Meeting at #SFSCON26 is a chance to share experiences, celebrate achievements and strengthen the connections that make our community thrive.

A moment to reconnect, exchange ideas and celebrate who makes the community what it is.

Looking forward to sharing this moment with @martandr@mastodon.social and the wider FSFE community.

Some of the most interesting discussions in #FreeSoftware happen where different perspectives meet.

That's why #SFSCON26 brings together tracks covering technology, policy, law, education, communities and much more.

🌐 Do we really need to depend on a handful of platforms for everything we do online?

For the first time Digital Independence Day comes to Italy as part of #SFSCON26.

Together with @fedimedia@mastodon.uno, we'll explore alternatives for communication, collaboration and digital infrastructure, from the #Fediverse to #FreeSoftware solutions that put users back in control.

Joining the discussion will be @martandr@mastodon.social, @elettrona@poliversity.it, @bjoernsta@eimsbuettel.social and many others.

Conferences don't end when the talks are over.

The conversations and connections that emerge continue long after the event, and we'd like this account to be part of that.

We'll share speaker insights, emerging topics in #FreeSoftware, behind-the-scenes, discussions and updates from the #OpenSource community.

🤝If you have projects, questions or perspectives to share, we'd love to hear from you. We hope this can be a space for exchange between people who care about #SoftwareFreedom.

#SFSCON

Welcome to the official SFSCON Mastodon account! 👋

For more than 20 years, SFSCON has brought together people who believe that #FreeSoftwaree and #SoftwareFreedom can drive innovation, collaboration and digital independence.

Through talks, discussions and community exchange, the conference creates a space where developers, decision-makers and communities meet, learn and get inspired.

We're happy to join the Fediverse and continue some of those conversations here.

Another day on the fediverse, another round of people wanting to throw the baby out with the bathwater. No, software freedoms and the licensing that protects them do not solve all the world's problems. They don't magically stop people from being bigots, or stop wars, or cure cancer. More's the pity.

Do they matter? Yes. Do they liberate us from all sorts of shitfuckery that would happen without them, no question.
