This remarkable essay documents the direct personal responsibility of Steve Baker, Sajid Javid, and Rishi Sunak for the global financial crash of 2008. Of course, they all personally profited hugely from it.

Baker, of course, was later the architect of the hard Brexit deal.

If we had sent them all to prison, as any rational state would have done, would probably never have happened.

@simon_brooke@mastodon.scot austerity doesn’t pass any economic sniff test. It’s obvious nonsense: the reason it was picked up was because the politicians really wanted it. The resulting rise of fascism was also predictable so they’re either utterly stupid or it was a desired outcome.
