The European Commission wants to remove the ANNOYING COOKIE BANNER,, but of course Google is lobbying against this. 🍪🙄
Worryingly, EU Member States like Germany and France also want to keep it.
WHY?
Tech Giants like Google make HUGE profits tracking you, so of course they don't want it to be easier for you to not consent. 😡

@Tutanota@mastodon.social I never, ever click yes to anyone's consent banner. I then enforce my denial of consent with zero-whitelist adblocking, tracker blocking, and blocking of all unknown 3ed party tools and content. Usually the cookie banners don't even show as the code for showing them is not reached.
When I see "please enable JS and turn off any adblocker" I close the tab. Every time. No exceptions.
