Sunbeams

Crossing Dynjandisheiði on our way to Barðaströnd on an overcast and showery day, we climbed the road to Botnshorn mountain.

We had planned to stop at the top of the road to admire the view, but there wasn't a safe place. So, I wound down the car window to take this shot of the glorious sunbeams striking the ridge below.

September, overlooking Geirþjófsfjörður¹ in the Westfjords of Iceland.

A colour photo of a mountainous landscape under an overcast sky. Taken from a point high above a fjord below, the view is of a wide ledge partway down the mountainside. The surface is rugged but fairly horizontal, and showing lots of green growth. A road can be seen snaking across the landscape below and another mountainside on the opposite side of the fjord is just visible through the gloomy haze. The foreground is a sheer drop at the road's edge. The grey and woolly cloud is only just above the viewer, and it has a distinct edge. Angling down from the cloud is a line of strong sunbeams striking the flat ground below.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk A neat little indie film from 2011 called "Either Way" was shot on location on exactly this stretch of road:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2009643

It's the sort of film where time adapts to the landscape.
