In celebration of Singapore's National Day, 9 August 2026, here are some wildlife spotted on that day: a Smooth-coated Otter and Stork-billed Kingfisher at Pasir Ris Park, and an Asian Openbill and Lime Butterfly at Punggol Waterway Park.

An otter in the water, with the upper body above the water, and front paws on the large root of a mangrove tree. The otter is dark grey on the upperside with a light underside. A kingfisher on a branch. It has bright blue wing feathers. Its tail is lifted, showing an orange bum. The collar is also orange. The head is brown, with a large reddish beak that is black at the tip. A large stork standing on a stone on a grassy patch It is mostly white, with a black tail and wing tips. The beak is large and dark, with a slight gap seen midway between the upper and lower mandibles. A butterfly feeding from a flower. It has a black and white wings with a mosaic pattern, and some orange patches.
