This is a cityscape photo in portrait format of a long row of historic, colonial-era terraced buildings in the foreground and a modern high-rise office block in the background. Amoy Street, Singapore (2012).

In the foreground is that row of old but restored colonial-era terraced buildings that start along the left edge of the photo and extend away from the camera for ten to fifteen metres before curving around to the right and then out of view. The location is a quiet and pleasant area of the city with mostly restored historic low- rise buildings, some residential, but mostly businesses and cafes. The camera is positioned about a metre to the right of the buildings (standing in the road) and aligned viewing along it's length. The buildings are a mix of two and three floors with the ground floor deep in shadow and mostly out of view with what is the pavement covered by the overhang from the first floor of the building, as was so common in that era to protect pedestrians from the tropic
