Been quite a while since I wrote anything on my site - work and heat exhaustion, let's pretend - but it's #TravelTuesday and I have just published a write-up and a load of photos from a cruise last year along Norway's second longest fjord, Hardangerfjord, so here's one as a treat. This is the village of Ænes and it's pretty bloody lovely, I think we can all agree.

We're on a ship on a wide fjord looking across to land. It's a bright, sunny day but there's a cool tone and the landscape tells us that it's chilly. Pale, yellow-green grass forms a low plateau set just back from the water's edge and serves as the base for a spread-out village of isolated houses and a white-walled church with tower and black roof. A dense gathering of trees serves as a border behind the village before mountains rise up behind and dwarf the man-made structures in the foreground. We can see the sloping side of one tree-covered mountain to the left and the ground rises towards the right into dark forest-land. In the distance, pale with haze, ice and snow-capped mountains form a range under the crisp blue sky.
