We are walking beside a wide stream with banks covered with gray rocks and hemlock trunks draped in bright green moss. The forest floor surrounding the stream is strewn with freshly fallen autumn leaves on a soft carpet of fallen hemlock needles. Golds and oranges of hardwood trees sporting fall foliage surround the hemlock forest. The unseen sky is a bright overcast, reflecting dazzling highlights on the rushing waters of the stream, swollen from recent rains.
