Jongens op het Rokin (ter hoogte van de Langebrugsteeg), Amsterdam, Ed van der Elsken (attributed to), c. 1950 - c. 1960

http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/collection/RP-F-2019-242-5-50

The image is a black and white photograph that appears to capture two young boys on an urban street, likely in Amsterdam given the context provided. One boy, wearing what seems to be a headband or makeshift mask made of fabric tied around his forehead, has his tongue out playfully as he sits near another person who is pouring a can labeled "Shell" with "25" written on it onto him from above. The other boy stands beside the seated one and smiles at the camera. In the background, there are buildings typical of an urban European setting, bicycles parked along the street, and pedestrians walking by. A railing or fence runs parallel to a canal or waterway in the foreground, with more structures reflecting on its surface. This scene is indicative of daily life activities during that period.
