A cloudless soft blue sky, an open and sunny woodland of mature spruce, fir and northern hardwoods with relatively narrow trunks growing tall and straight. The forest floor is covered with a carpet of ground-hugging spruce shrubs and fallen twigs and branches. The late morning sun is shining down though the canopy, filling the forest with bright light and soft shadows. A footpath winds through the forest, carpeted with golden brown fallen needles. A tree beside the trail ahead sports a small, circular blue trail marker.
