One of my favourite WTF😱 insects seen earlier today.
It's a buffalo treehopper (Stictocephala bisonia; 🇩🇪 Büffelzikade).
And although bison are native in Europe as well as North America, this namesake isn't – it's an invasive species which first arrived from over the pond around a century ago.

These buffalo treehoppers tend to be active, flying around the garden quickly & only settling briefly, so I was happy to get that shot before it skeedaddled.
They truly are potty though – for a side-on look, here's a picture I took in late August last year.
