@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net Oh crap.

You know these guys have a toxic ex partner style "We will never let you go" account closure system? I mistakenly signed up for them months back only to find that their biometric authentication was invasive and repetitive, they are totally AI-pilled and Google-pilled, heavily dependent on Google infrastructure, and they like to push Musk stocks on their app front page. You can't close an account without draining it through an outward transfer and you HAVE to top it up to a minimum to do that.

I just need to Article 17 these dickheads and be done with it.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net So the real question should be, why do these clowns give out any information just because a question comes in from a government email address?

No matter who asks, you just forward the request to legal. Period.

Interesting. They - Resolut - are advertising heavily on YT at the moment without saying a word about this breach or what they’re doing in response to it nor what affected customers should do. 🤔🔥

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net I have a sibling who thinks that Revolut is the bees knees.

A couple of years ago they made an international payment into my account and it came with a twenty Euro bank charge.

Half the value of the sum paid.

I asked my sibling to not use Revolut to transfer money to any of my accounts in the future.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net My colleague uses Revolut and has not received any notification about this. Apparently, only about 50k people are affected - I presume the notifications were sent only to them. But I cannot find any original source (e.g., Revolut's site) that confirms the leak. A bunch of articles, like this one, saying "Revolut confirms" but none of them linking to a web page or a press release or whatever.

In the U.S., victims would get a couple years of free credit monitoring to make this all better. I hope it's handled better in the UK.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net Yes, I'm a customer but apparently the pennies I dropped there aren't worth spying on me 😅

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net is this the same organization that blocks the security focused GrapheneOS for "security" reasons?

Revolut is neither the first or the last to suffer from this.

we need to repel the law that give "emergency" access to user data.

because it prevent proper verification and allow those thing to happen.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net haha imagine locking out users who chose to use a privacy focused android ROM and then sending their data to a random Email just when being asked for it. :skull_laughting_with_tears:
