I am sticking it with Firefox’s security features and Helium Browser for browsing. But for chatting, I prefer XMPP and IRC if people in my circle have access to them.

most options are great, but Ecosia has nothing to do with cybersecurity nor privacy.

Here is what it offers:

  • Google trackers
  • Cloudflare (as a middleman)
  • Bing search engine
  • week-long user data retention
  • Chinese coal-trained model instead of EU solution such as Mistral

keeping advertising it is

Has to be CrowdSec [https://www.crowdsec.net/]

Useful for servers of hobbyists to large-scale organizations. Even a tiny VPN.

CrowdSec embraces a unique approach to cyber intelligence by leveraging the power of the crowd to provide an open source and collaborative method for data collection. This is what we call, The Network Effect of Cyber Threat Intelligence.

Free Community version available.

Because other than Tuta, they don't seem to be monitoring my mail account and blocking it for "spam" if I write > 15 emails a day. Yeah, that happened.

It has tons of options for applying restrictions to the services it manages. And even if a service you host comes with its own service file, you don't have to modify that and risk losing your changes with an update, you can make separate drop-in files that get applied as well.

I switch from @ecosia@mastodon.social to @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net because E. did choose to work with non european partners.

Although I don't follow these types of trends, it's a good opportunity to share some good things! I like @StartpageSearch@mastodon.social's Anonymous View feature! @librewolf@chaos.social, @Waterfox@mastodon.social, IronFox and @torproject@mastodon.social's browsers. @briar@fosstodon.org and @matrix@mastodon.matrix.org's @element@mastodon.matrix.org chatting software. Also uBlock Origin and @StartpageSearch@mastodon.social's Startpage Privacy Protection extension (Which might protect against malicious trackers!). @CoMaps@floss.social, a lot! Simple Keyboard and QKSMS, too!

@Tutanota@mastodon.social ad block; with zero click spyware being deployed via ad delivery, adblock is now mandatory. + + @LibreWolf@mastodon.social with @ublockorigin@lemmy.ml

@Reticulum@mastodon.social and @VeilidNetwork@masto.hackers.town is the future of the privacy, check out @veilamp@masto.hackers.town to see what's possible

Use OS and @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social because you CAN'T trust companies(even Apple for the Stockholm set) to choose your privacy and security over shareholder value. Security and privacy need to be transparently built into the OS
