Chrome remembers 500 million a day. The world's most trusted browser." and instead reads: "Forget privacy. Chrome remembers everything you do. The world's creepiest browser."

@Tutanota@mastodon.social ich arbeite mit Waterfox, Firefox oder dem Mullvad-Browser - je nachdem was ich gerade so mache.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social wait is this only for Google Chrome or all chromium based browser including Brave?

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Also using Vivaldi. Do you think it's a bad choice?

I like for desktop and on Android, and I keep as a backup Chromium browser.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social On Android phones, WebLibre and IronFox are also great browser choices, and since they weren't mentioned here, I'm adding them :BlobhajTinyHeart:

@Tutanota@mastodon.social you gotta put more than chrome on left. Gotta put some of the chromium browsers that don't support ublock origin

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Firefox is my go to browser. :)

@Tutanota@mastodon.social On android: Firefox! Not hardened as Ironfox or others but still a classic with uBlock and other privacy extensions.
Windows: Firefox too, even Helium at work because it works better with some erp and the tab groups work so well!

My go to browsers are Waterfox and Vivaldi, with the former chosen overFirefox due to being AI free (last time I checked!) and the latter for sites that might require chrome compatibility.

Firefox! With all ai turned off!

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Brave on all devices

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Waterfox on all computers and Firefox on iOS only.

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Brave, Librewolf, Vivaldi, and soon LadyBird

@Tutanota@mastodon.social it isn't right to cover brave without mentioning the reason it exists at all - Eich is a homophobe and was kicked out of Mozilla for it

He has never apologised, so choosing brave is a way of saying "homophobia isn't a deal breaker for me"

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social sticking to Vivaldi.

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Another article about privacy focused browsers and yet again no mention of one of the oldest Firefox forks with one of the best track records? With features that no other browsers offer for privacy out of the box, such as DNS anonymisation.

Plus, listing a browser in the top 3 who's main focus is not privacy...

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Librewolf and Mullvad.

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social why never mention brave-browser? Is there something I'm missing?

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Iodé browser (Firefox), and Vivaldi

Those recommendations are awful. I don't recommend using a browser maintained only by a handful of people, like these forks that are irregularly updated, or abandoned on a whim. Don't forget the browser is a critical piece of software and you should trust the people/company behind it before using it and make sure it is well maintained.

My personal picks: LibreWolf for hardening out of the box, and Firefox with arkenfox if you want full control over every setting. Both are open source, independent from Google, and uBlock Origin works perfectly on them.

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social @JustinMac84@mastodon.social Still using Firefox and uBlock Origin here... still working great. No Youtube ads!

@Tutanota@mastodon.social what are the two icon's under Ecosia's?

0

@Tutanota@mastodon.social using Brave is extremely problematic for a multitude of reasons, don't recommend it please

also, using a Chromium-based browser empowers the idea that the web belongs to a Google-backed technology which directly helps Chrome, the fact it is open-source does not change that

@Tutanota@mastodon.social I use Vanadium on GrapheneOS, as well as DuckDuckGo and Firefox
