This black-and-white film photograph captures the top of an Orthodox church hidden in a dense forest thicket. The frame is built on the technique of natural framing: the dense, dark foliage of the trees forms an almost closed "window," through which only the silhouette of the church's onion dome with a cross is visible. The dome itself has a characteristic "scaly" texture and is topped with an Orthodox cross. Behind it, a light, cloudy sky is visible. The foreground is filled with dark branches and grass. The image conveys an atmosphere of solitude, silence, and spiritual concentration, where nature seems to protect and hide the shrine from prying eyes.
