A wide black and white photograph captured from the corner angle inside the covered stone cloister of an ancient abbey. An unbroken sequence of pointed medieval stone arches supported by short paired columns runs along two perpendicular sides of a gravel walkway. Sunlight streams low through the arched openings, casting sharp, rhythmic rectangular bars of light and deep diagonal shadows across the gravel floor and sunken stone slabs. Overhead, a curved, coarse barrel-vaulted ceiling shows weathered masonry texture leading towards arched doorways at each corridor end.
