The Harvest

This color photograph captures a harvest of zucchini collected in an old metal wheelbarrow. The wheelbarrow stands on green grass, which is visible along the edges of the frame. Inside, on the scratched gray metal, lies a pile of vegetables: several large, light, almost white zucchini, one dark green, almost black fruit in the center, and one covered in spots and already beginning to turn yellow. The skin of the zucchini is covered with small scratches, dots, and traces of soil — they have just come from the garden bed. The image conveys the atmosphere of the end of the dacha season, the simple joy of a gathered harvest, and the honest, textured beauty of village life.
