An atmospheric landscape photographed at sunset. On the left stand distinctive pollarded willows with broad, dense crowns, while the right side of the frame is filled with tall, slender trees, probably poplars, whose delicate leaves and thin branches form dark, lace-like patterns against the sky. Partly concealed between the trees, the sun casts a warm golden glow, drawing a patch of intensely green grass out of the darkness. Most of the foreground remains in deep shadow.
The upper half of the vertical frame is occupied by a sky covered with layered, dramatically shaped clouds. Their colours shift from muted blue and greenish grey to gold, amber and subtle ochre. Visible grain and slightly subdued tones give the photograph a painterly, gently nostalgic character.
It is a peaceful moment on the threshold between day and evening. A quiet spectacle of light, trees and clouds, without any grand event, yet lingering in the memory through its sense of silence, closeness to nature and fleetin
