People threatened an LGBTQ+ beach party. The organizer's answer was that the community is not going into hiding.

Then the party happened. On the announced date, at the announced place, with music and coolers and somebody's aunt in a folding chair.

That's what refusal looks like most days. Not a barricade. An occasion, kept on the calendar and held in public, while the people who'd rather you were invisible stand at the edge of the parking lot and watch you eat a sandwich in the sun.

What did you keep on the calendar this summer that somebody wanted cancelled?

This runs on readers and nothing else — no ad network, no oligarch, no one to phone up and ask for the teeth to come out of a paragraph. If it's worth a morning: thistleandmoss.com/upgrade?utm_source=PixelFed&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fedica
