Net result: Canada expanded our rights. Brazil published our data. Massachusetts opened its wallet. Two directors said absolutely not in four words. The government folded its own subpoena.

People threatened an LGBTQ+ beach party. The organizer's answer was that the community is not going into hiding.

Then the party happened. On the announced date, at the announced place, with music and coolers and somebody's aunt in a folding chair.

That's what refusal looks like most days. Not a barricade. An occasion, kept on the calendar and held in public, while the people who'd rather you were invisible stand at the edge of the parking lot and watch you eat a sandwich in the sun.
