Some fabulous poppies in winter bloom, taken a few weeks ago at the St Kilda Botanical Gardens.

A photograph of poppies in various stages of blooming. Shot from low at the ground pointing upwards, with a medium-shallow depth-of-field, there are a few poppies in the middleground of the photo that stand tall and proud that are in full bloom that are translucent and backlit by the sun. The nearest of the two is pink and the furthest is a pastel orange. In the distance are yellow and grapefruit-coloured poppy flowers. In the foreground are unopened poppies, some pointing upwards and others drooping. Some are in focus and some are heavily blurred. The sky is a very lighy blue, it is a bright sunny day. The stems of some of the poppies catch the sunlight and are illuminated greeish-yellow, and hairs on the stems catch the light.
