American white pelicans

A pelican standing on a dirt shoreline, next to dead tall stumps of trees cut off a few feet above the ground/waterline. There are many other pelicans standing and preening or "loafed" on the ground resting. The pelicans resting either pull their necks far back so the tip of their bill rests on the ground and the upper part rests on their neck, or sometimes twist their head backwards to tuck their bill into one of their wings and relax their head.

They are very large white birds, with orange legs and bills, with their bills being very long and with a pouch underneath for catching fish in.
