A couple of views of the rock gardens in front of the house in early evening light (6:30 pm ish as days get shorter).
Mound forming Dianthus nardiformis makes hundreds of flowers from mid-late summer till heavy frost; behind it we see the pompoms of Armeria maritima, white form.
the Malva is something Mom/my Aunt planted years ago and popped from seed in a few spots, plants are short lived. I like the small Hibiscus flowers, so do #pollinators #garden #Alberta #Canada #photography #RockGarden

Late afternoon sun reaches a small narrow rock bed from left to centre- farther right and to the rear is a green mowed area, another rock bed, and shrubs/trees farther back are mostly in shade with patches and strips of sunlight making it through to the grassy areas. The rock bed to left has various low to medium height plants, with a single out of place taller plant (wasitheight?) at the right edge. This has a small shrubby/tree shadpe, with many stems rising from the soil and spreading out as they go up. From green leaves many semi-large pale pink flowers appear near the tops of stems, partly back-lit by the sun. Each flower has the flared tubular/cup shape of a Hibiscus flower (cousins).

Partial view, mostly of a couple of plants, in a rock garden, unevenly lit by late afternoon sun which comes from behind broken by shadows of trees out of sight beyond the frame. In front is a mound probably around 30cm/12in or a little more in the centre tapering to the ground at the edges. It is composed of a vast number of narrow grassy stems with very narrow leaves. Many stems especially around the edges, but not all, are topped with simple deep pink flowers. The flowers have 5 petals which rise from a narrow tube, but present a flat face, the pointed petals radiating out straight from the centre, just slightly curved up on some of the edges. From behind that plant rise a bunh of narrow stems topped with pompom flowers, some of which are fresh white, others browny fading but holding the same shape.
