After a short night of rain, falling water drops finally took a rest, so we could enjoy the ascent to Aksla viewpoint. In Ålesund, Norway.

A high panoramic view looks down over a dense coastal city surrounded by water and dramatic mountains. Colorful buildings and gray rooftops cluster around a harbor filled with small boats and waterfront docks. A narrow peninsula extends into the water, with steep green hills rising behind the city. Bright sunlight reflects intensely off the sea beneath a sky filled with large, luminous clouds. The view looking south from Ålesund last year with the impressive sight of the Sunnmøre Alps in the distance.

We're at an elevated position looking out across a stretch of water towards low, rocky islets and peninsulas ahead of a distant range of mountains. It's a cold day and the water is flat and grey, a darker tone of the overcast sky that seems to match it for drab appearance above. On a spit of land that emerges from the right of view out into the water there are some multi-storey buildings with sloping roofs and trees along the waterline, with the buildings lacking much in colour either and blending into the nearly monochrome scene. A similar mix of buildings and dark evergreen trees fills the landscapes of the more distant islands and hills until the mountains rise in the background. The mountains stretch across the width of view. They are huge and snow-covered with the exposed rocky crags and faces appearing as pale grey scars on the giant forms at this distance.
