Wide-angle view of the Colosseum, the ancient Flavian Amphitheatre in Rome, Italy, photographed on 17 October 2026. The monumental travertine façade curves across the frame, revealing three levels of Roman arches and the partially preserved upper wall. Statues stand within several arches, while tourists walk, take photographs and gather in the sunlit square below. Tall cypress trees frame the right side of the amphitheatre beneath a vivid blue sky scattered with white clouds.

Porta San Paolo, the ancient Porta Ostiensis, in Rome, photographed on 13 April 2026. The monumental Roman gate rises between two massive cylindrical brick towers topped with battlements, with the central arched passage opening at street level. Modern Rome flows immediately in front of the ancient structure, with cars, pedestrians, traffic lights and road signs creating a striking contrast between the surviving Roman walls and the contemporary city.
