Last week, as the sun rose on the coast of Vancouver Island, we observed a black bear getting several salmon for breakfast. I have a good appetite in the morning too.

Bears are a common sight in the #Alaska wilderness, so it comes as no surprise that the state made several appearances in this gallery of bears in their natural habitat.

Back to some vacation photos. Had some close encounters with grizzly bears in Glacier. One at 35 yards, and another at 15. Wife also had a solo encounter heading back from Ahern Pass while I waited for my son to summit the peak. I did not find myself scared at all and enjoyed being able to see them up close (despite the obvious risk). Turns out you can change camera lenses while holding bear spray.

We also encountered several black bears; one with two cubs.
