Scenes from a #DogWalk today.

A pair of wood peckers, in this case Northern Flickers, atop a wooden post against a featureless sky

A large Turkey Vulture looks back at me over its shoulder. A large carrion bird with black and brown feathers and a stark red bald head

A Belted Kingfisher takes a break on some driftwood in a pond

Neighbors we saw along the way on our #DogWalk today.

#Photography #BirdPhotography #Seals #VancouverIsland

A Coopers Hawk perched on a bare tree across the river. So bleak looking it could be February

AN Annas Hummingbird gives a little side eye from it's perch against a grey sky

A long row of pigeons atop a low fence

A seal pokes it nose up for a moment before returning to fishing. There should be a lot more in the coming weeks as the salmon run

Feathered friends seen today on our #DogWalk.

Do these feathers fit? A Mallard stands on a submerged log, reflected in the calm water

That’s what they want you to think. Portrait of a pigeon looking somewhat quizzical and befuddled

Stand on guard for the. An adult Canada Goose stands at the water’s edge, on watch for the flock

Flocking perching room only here mate. More than a dozen pigeons perched atop a chain link fence

#BirdsOfMastodon sighted on our #DogWalk today.

#Photography #VancouverIsland

A Kingfisher perches on a metal railing backgrounded by the drab browns and "greens" of the estuary in a dry summer

A mature Bald Eagle looks out over the valley from a perch high in a fir tree

A Great Blue Heron stalks the muddy estuary bed at low tide, well under the usual water line

A Kingfisher poses on a large piece of (long since immobilized) drift wood
