Latest Death Penalty Report

Report for mid – July to mid – August August 2026

We are pleased to attach the latest report with thanks to group member Lesley for the work in compiling it. The highlights in the report are

Conditional pardon offered to Ruth Ellis who was the last person to be hanged in Britain

In Lebanon a law has been passed abolishing the death penalty.  It will be the only country in the Middle East formally to end the penalty

Florida continues with its spate of executions including two on one day and Governor DeSantis is busy signing fresh warrants

Jermaine Wright, Delaware, becomes the 203rd person exonerated since 1973 and is declared innocent after 34 years on death row.

As ever we note that there is no data from China – believed to execute more of its citizens than the rest of the world put together – because they are a state secret. It is another aspect of the persecution of the Uyghurs the subject of a series of posts elsewhere on this site.

Hello, my dear friends,
For several days now, I've been asking for help with a debt. I've managed to come up with $115.
I still need $85 to pay off my debt. Please help me.

💔🚨 Dear kind people, please don’t ignore this plea…
This link is our only way to provide food and essential medical care for a family of 9. But we haven’t received a single donation for two full days, and today is the third day… 💔
I’m writing to you feeling deeply sad and exhausted. I don’t know how we will manage to get food and medicine tomorrow. 😢🙏
I’m going to sleep tonight carrying this fear in my heart, hoping that when I wake up, I’ll find that kind people have stood by us and that donations have started coming in. 🥺❤️
🙏 Even if you can’t donate, please just share the link. Your share could help us reach someone who can save a family from hunger and illness.
🆘 We urgently need food and medical care. Please don’t leave us alone during these incredibly difficult circumstances. 💔🇵🇸
A small donation from you + a share = a big hope for an entire family. 🙏
