A common noob trap for art is thinking you should get the biggest set of colored pencils or watercolors you can. A dozen colors is actually enough for anyone, but it really matters which twelve. After trying out some nice watercolor pencils, I decided I liked them, but the colors in the box set weren’t good for me. I went to the art store to buy several individual ones to swap out.

A dozen colors that suit your personal expression and blend well together will give your art more identity than having a set of 72 pencils to pull you every which way

i'm an agender, autistic, disabled and chronically ill ceramicist with little friends to sell and rent to pay!

my shop is currently OPEN at https://www.driftingspirits.art and will remain open for the next week or so. after that, it'll be closed for some weeks while i try to rest/recover and work on autumn sculptures (autumn!). i'm still waiting for the decision on my disability claim so doing my best to keep going in the meantime.

i ship from france to a lot of places. that includes the US but not most of the EU now, sadly; please contact me for more info and/or see and rage about the EU's new PPWR legislation.

all orders will be shipped within three weeks of purchase. i can't stand up today, so i'll pack them when i can.

a grid of four photos of raku ceramic sculptures. each is on a piece of chestnut wood with grey linen behind, and each has some little flowers next to it. clockwise from top left, they are: 1. a bear kami sculpture glazed in forest green mostly on its left side and blue mostly on its right side. where they overlap is a beautiful aqua colour. it has a kind, gentle face and is a little chonky. 2. a creature with four stubby legs, a widish lower half, and a round head with a small nose and two round eyes. it's glazed in a bottom-to-top gradient of dark blue to blue to a pale pinky red. it is a friend. 3. a creature glazed in a bottom-to-top gradient of blue to forest green to leaf green with a kind, but slightly intense and worried, face, and a leaf-green leaf on its head. it also has two cute little arms. 4. a white chicken with grey eyes, a pale orange beak, and a bordeaux red comb on the top of her head. she looks very sweet.
