I have to admit, that my skills with manual focus are pretty random. But since my macro lens’ autofocus is a disaster, I don’t really have a choice but to switch to manual.

And some times, I get lucky, other times not so much. And then, some times I get to see some strange stuff because I tend to take several shots of the same object, changing the focus slightly between the shots.

Like these two, that I guess qualifies for , since none of the shots came out right. But still the first shot shows the caviar like pollen grains at the stigma of the musk mallow. The other one proves that whatever species of fly, that is, hiding in the flower, it has some spiky hairs at its backside.

Btw: I’ll never get used to the Danish name for the mallow flowers. They’re called katost. And Kat is the Danish word for Cat. Ost is the Danish name for Cheese. So yes, this poor flower is called Cat-Cheese in Danish. I have no idea where the name origins, but I hope it originally had some other meaning.
