Vittoriano or Altare della Patria. Again, city centre of Rome

@foto@diggita.com

Low-angle view of the Monument to Victor Emmanuel II, also known as the Vittoriano or Altare della Patria, in Rome, Italy, photographed on 17 October 2026. The monumental bronze equestrian statue of King Victor Emmanuel II dominates the foreground, standing on an elaborate white marble pedestal decorated with sculpted figures. Above it, a winged Victory drives a bronze quadriga along the roofline of the monument. The pale marble architecture and green-patinated bronze sculptures contrast dramatically with a blue sky filled with sweeping grey and white clouds.

Last Sunday, the sunset from Uspenski Cathedral toward the center of Helsinki: the Helsinki Cathedral is at the very hearth of the city and its white color cut the red light of the evening.

Helsinki Cathedral rises above the rooftops of the historic city centre at dusk, its white neoclassical towers and dark green domes silhouetted against a soft grey and golden evening sky. In the foreground, rows of muted rooftops, chimneys and treetops create layers beneath the cathedral, while a Finnish flag hangs from a pole among the buildings below.
