Into the final week of summer... or so the Met Office would have us believe.
A week today and the decree will be going out that it's the final day of the season that this year has been record-breaking, in terms of the amount of sunshine, warmth and the lack of rainfall.
However, for the avoidance of doubt, the season of summer doesn't officially end until the equinox, which this year falls on 23 September.
We can't stop the evenings drawing in, but we can bask in the season of summer for another four weeks or so.
Some good news for those wanting to see a splashdown, there is rain and somewhat cooler temperatures forecast, BUT, did I hear a mention of it warming up once again as we head into September?
Meanwhile, another 'blue skies' photograph and this is Seaton Sluice, Northumberland, just north of Whitely Bay – always good for a capture!

This glorious sunset was shot at Yeavering, near the Anglo Saxon palace of Ad Gethrin. They were moved around the north of Northumbria from their religious centre at Lindisfarne to their summer palace, Ad Gethrin. They had little of the bejewelled wealth of those farther south, here they valued knowledge, land cattle and power. And they built the most influential of kingdoms. They would have appreciated this sunset I think..

A large stone fortress with tall rectangular towers and crenellated battlements dominates the scene under a mostly cloudy sky with patches of blue. The central tower rises higher than the adjoining structures, featuring narrow vertical windows and a few arched ones, some with dark frames. The surrounding walls and terraces are made of the same grey stone, with a mossy base suggesting age and exposure to the elements. A sloped stone path with metal railings leads up toward the main structure, bordered by a low retaining wall and green grass dotted with small white flowers. In the foreground, part of a stepped stone wall and railings provide a sense of depth.
