A Great Blue Heron leaps wings spread from the driftwood in the pond it had been perching on and takes flight

What is this? A birdhouse for ants? Another heron stands, very unhappy looking heron a birdhouse built for purple martens (a threatened swallow species) built in the rushes

A humpback whale, one of a pair, jumping from the water to land in its back, as seen from the ferry so we are, by law, at least 1000m back. This ends up being a pretty tight crop

A Brown Pelican made an appearance as the ferry prepared to leave dock
