As promised, here's my amazing (lol) picture of the partially eclipsed moon and lightning bolts, both almost totally blown out.

As promised, here's my amazing (lol) picture of the partially eclipsed moon and lightning bolts, both almost totally blown out.

I got some nice bolts without the moon, but the alignment of the storm and moon didn't quite work out.

Just before totality, I drove around to the west (left in the photo) hoping I could line up the storm and the moon before the storm died. But, the clouds obscured the moon from that direction and by the time they cleared, the storm had fizzled. I got a clear view of the eclipse, though.

Had the storm arrived a little later, once the moon was higher and eclipsed, and been just a little further back to the east, it could've been a spectacular shot. It was fun trying anyway.

A dark, cloudy night with an extremely bright double lightning bolt in the distance. Up in the sky to the right, peeking out of the clouds, the partially eclipsed moon can be seen, though it's hard to tell what's going on without zooming way in or reading the description. The alignment had possibility, but timing of the storm and cloud breaks didn't quite work out.

Was watching the radar and feeling bummed that Tucson was getting the storms, then the little puffy cloud that could lit up red (rain core) on the radar, so I grabbed me gear and went 5 minutes to my favorite spot and got two nice shots.

Night time in the desert. A long "crawler" type lightning bolt runs horizontally across the otherwise dark, cloudy sky in the background, spreading out into half a dozen electric fingers. In the foreground, two large saguaro cactus are mostly silhouetted. Late afternoon desert lightning strike. The main bolt lands on a far, hazy ridgeline. A secondary bolt reaches out horizontally across the top of the frame. The foreground is open desert with lots of saguaro cactus in the distance. The clouds are a warm sunset orange, brighter where lit up by the lightning flashes.
