We had a bear attack here recently.
Did someone startle a bear deep in the backcountry? Were they unprepared in the wilds?
The woman was walking her dog along the edge of the city. She survived, and is in serious condition in Seattle.

@CA_Hawthorne@writing.exchange I am really thankful that we have no dangerous wildlife in the UK.
Deer running into the road can kill you if you're driving, but otherwise the only potentially dangerous beasts are domestic cattle, and it's usually possible to keep a wall or fence between you and them.
@CA_Hawthorne@writing.exchange you have made no mention of the dog, is he OK? Could that have been the reason for the attack? It seems the most logical, as wildlife tends to avoid contact with humans.
