Such an atmosphere of optimism that warm, autumn evening in Edinburgh, sadly dashed the next day (and the years since as Westmonster continually lets us down or betrays us)

After a day of constantly shifting light, rain and sun chasing each other, like greyhounds, the dusk skies this evening have the most marvelous quality & peculiar light.
It's like an Impressionist and a watercolour artist both painted the heavens at the same time. A few magical moments, then it's gone...

I do love the old steel signposts with metal lettering, not so many still around.

Dad and I paid a visit to the edge of the Roman Empire this afternoon, and the impressive Legionary sculpture by Svetlana Kondakova (some six metres high), still standing sentry upon the Antonine Wall.

Svetlana Kondakova's six metre high sculpture sits on the Antonine Wall, scanning northwards for barbarians, at the very edge of the Roman Empire.

Trying for the "bokeh" effect, where one object is in sharp focus & light, the background in soft focus. The good light this day helped a lot...
It's also a reminder to stop sometimes & focus (literally, here!) on the little details & how magical they can be
