Solitary Juniper on a moraine, with a view across the Owens Valley (Payahǖǖnadǖ) to the White Mountains, approximately 15 miles away from the little tree. Seen from the valley of McGee Creek in California's Eastern Sierra.

"A Sierra Memory" from August 2012 for and

Barney Lake with a view north into the Mammoth Lakes Basin (Mammoth Mountain can be seen in the distance). The other two small bodies of water, more to the right, are Red Lake and Skelton Lake. I made this photo near Duck Pass, on a nice hike up towards Duck Lake. Clouds and Thunderstorms, a feature of the north-American monsoon weather pattern in summer, occurred regularly in the afternoon during our one-week stay.

This is Mono Lake in California's Eastern Sierra, with the South Tufa area and Paoha Island, in warm evening light after a summer thunderstorm. The dark spot on the left is Negit Island (both islands are of volcanic nature).

A color landscape photo with multiple layers. In the immediate foreground, dry grasses and low-growing shrubs, then a band of strange rock formations and behind those, a large lake. An island of light grey volcanic rock forms the next layer and behind that, barren mountains in hazy light.
