A female dragonfly lifting back out of the water after dipping her abdomen under to release her fertilised eggs. Some drops of water add to the radiating ripples from her brief dip.

To me, this image represents how we are mere specks on this earth. (Note people on the beach)

The perspective is from a higher ground, looking out at the flat land of Australia. However, there are high cliffs lining an ocean inlet that culminates in a sandy beach spotted with people that look like specks. The tops of the cliffs are covered with dark green vegetation, the cliffs are red rock and soil, while the inlet/cove water is a soft foam green. The sky is a light blue with white clouds, rather hazy. The entire image gives a sense of how vast the earth's geography is, and when you see the specks of people, it's humbling how insignificant we are.

This cliff site is Lightning Dreaming, one of the creation stories of the Gun-djeihmi-speaking people. It's part of the story of one of the creation ancestors, Namarrkon, who is responsible for the violent lightning storms that occur every tropical summer. "He uses the axes on his head, elbows and feet to split the dark clouds and make lightning and thunder. Namarrkon’s story in this area is part of a larger story. It covers his journey from the coastline of the Coburg Peninsula to a rock shelter in the sandstone country of the Arnhem Land plateau, where he remains today. During his travels, Namarrkon left his power behind at many places. On Namarrkon’s last journey, he approached the Arnhem Land escarpment from the east and looked over the sheer wall. He took out an eye and placed it high on the cliff at Namarrkondjahdjam (Lightning Dreaming), where it sits waiting for the storm season.
