Forked Tongue
Aurora lights the sky above Fardagafoss in eastern Iceland.
An unusually clear night in October means that it's well below freezing but we aren't troubled by clouds. Even though we weren't in a dark sky area (it was a Bortle¹ 4) we could still see lots of stars.
This lovely display lasted for almost two hours.

@mo@icelandphotos.co.uk i might be just an old man yelling at the clouds but when did this "bortle scale" became a thing? and why? i remember spending every single summer when i was a teenager under the stars and we simply used the limit magnitude as a measure of sky quality...
